Amazing surroundings with a lot of opportunities

Surrounded by beautiful mountains and small lakes is the the Mosjøen Youth Hostel, Sandvik, pictoresque, in the middle of the pretty Helgeland. There are lots of possibilities to do outside. In addition to a great trails, with the opportunities to wander through forests and over mountains, there is also the possibilities to go canoeing. The youth hostel lies near to Mjåvatn, and at reception you can borrow canoes in order to make a trip to the lakes.

In connection with the camping area we have both "turstier", play area for children and an inbuilt barbeque hut, where the day's catch can be eaten. Indoors you can find a kiosk, sports room, billiard room and a TV room. Ask at reception for the use of the different activities. 

Mosjøen Youth Hostel is an alternative place to stay the night that is used to small children and is also an excellent place to explore Hegeland. One can visit the Arctic Circle in one day; the door to arctic Norway, Torghatten with its famous hole in the mountain, the famous glacier Svartisen, or Alstadhaug, home of the well known poet Petter Dass. 

Only 20 minutes from the Mosjøen Youth Hostel lies the traditional trading centre of Mosjøen - in the middle of Helgeland and actually in the middle of Norway! The town has North Norway's longest connected tree house. Restored buildings and blocks of flats from the 19th century create a unique atmosphere in Mosjøen's old quarter, Sjøgata. Here you can find as well, restaurants, small shops, galleries, museums and hotels and guest houses. The exhibition about the Jackobsen building is well worth a visit in the Vefsn Museum's own building on the Sjøgata.
